The COL2A1 col2a1 (Catalog #MBS2549030) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Collagen II Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Collagen II can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin (IHC-p).IHC: 1:50-300. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COL2A1 col2a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The COL2A1 col2a1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #111118976) (NCBI Accession #NP_001835.3) (Uniprot Accession #P02458). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

This gene encodes the alpha-1 chain of type II collagen, a fibrillar collagen found in cartilage and the vitreous humor of the eye. Mutations in this gene are associated with achondrogenesis, chondrodysplasia, early onset familial osteoarthritis, SED congenita, Langer-Saldino achondrogenesis, Kniest dysplasia, Stickler syndrome type I, and spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia Strudwick type. In addition, defects in processing chondrocalcin, a calcium binding protein that is the C-propeptide of this collagen molecule, are also associated with chondrodysplasia. There are two transcripts identified for this gene.
Immunogen: Synthetic Peptide of Collagen II
Buffer: PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol pH 7.4. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing COL2A1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as COL2A1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Bone, Brain, Connective Tissue, Ear, Embryonic Tissue, Eye, Heart, Kidney, Muscle, Skin tissues are correlated with this protein. COL2A1 also interacts with the following gene(s): BMP2, COL9A2, COL9A3, COMP, FN1, HTRA1, MMP1, MMP13, SPARC, TGFB1. Cleft Palate, Congenital Abnormalities, Craniofacial Abnormalities, Kniest dysplasia, Myopia, Necrosis, Neoplasms, Osteoarthritis, Osteochondrodysplasias, Retinal Detachment are some of the diseases may be linked to Collagen II Monoclonal Antibody.
