The FOS fos (Catalog #MBS500053) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The c-FOS reacts with Predicted: Bovine, Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s c-FOS can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).WB: 1:2000
IF: 1:1000
IHC: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FOS fos for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The FOS fos product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4885241) (NCBI Accession #NP_005243.1) (Uniprot Accession #P01100). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

c-FOS is a member of the FOS transcription factor family which forms dimers with c-JUN to produce the Activator Protein 1 (AP-1) complex which plays a key role in critical cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis (Chiu et al., 1988). c-FOS expression has been demonstrated to be an useful marker of neuronal activation as it is rapidly induced following various stimuli (Hoffman et al., 1993). Additionally, c-FOS has been shown to be overexpressed in a variety of malignant tumor types (Milde-Langosch 2005).
Immunogen: Recombinant full length human c-FOS expressed in and purified from E. Coli.
Immunogen Species: Human. Purification Note: The antibody is protein G purified from culture supernatant. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing FOS are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as FOS may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Blood, Bone, Brain, Heart, Liver, Muscle, Nerve, Skin, Spinal Cord, Vascular tissues are correlated with this protein. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. FOS also interacts with the following gene(s): ATF2, CREB1, IL2, JUN, JUNB, JUND, MAPK1, MAPK3, MAPK8, MAPK9. Breast Neoplasms, Cell Transformation, Neoplastic, Disease Models, Animal, Epilepsy, Hyperalgesia, Inflammation, Necrosis, Nervous System Diseases, Pain, Seizures are some of the diseases may be linked to c-FOS.
