The GAD2 gad2 (Catalog #MBS475590) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-GAD2 Mouse mAb reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s GAD2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB).WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GAD2 gad2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The GAD2 gad2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4503875) (NCBI Accession #NP_000809.1) (Uniprot Accession #Q05329). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Western Blot (WB) (Western blot detection of GAD2 in Rat Hippocampus and Rat Brain lysates using GAD2 mouse mAb (dilution 1:1000).Predicted band size:60kDa.Observed band size:60kDa.)
Entrez Summary: This gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantibody and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein.
UniPort Summary Function: Catalyzes the production of GABA.
Immunogen: Purified recombinant human GAD2 protein fragments expressed in E Coli.
Sensitivity: This antibody detects endogenous levels of GAD2 and does not cross-react with related proteins.
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the group II decarboxylase family. Subunit Structure: Homodimer.
Subcellular Location: Cytoplasm; cytosol. Cytoplasmic vesicle. Cell junction; synapse; presynaptic cell membrane. Golgi apparatus membrane. Associated to cytoplasmic vesicles. In neurons, cytosolic leaflet of Golgi membranes and presynaptic clusters. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing GAD2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as GAD2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
