The GAL gal (Catalog #MBS608714) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Galanin (GAL, GAL1, GALN, GLNN) reacts with Hamster, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Galanin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB).Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GAL gal for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The GAL gal product has the following accession number(s) (GI #1247490) (Uniprot Accession #P22466). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Galanin (GAL, GAL1, GALN, GLNN) with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot detection of GST tagged recombinant human Galanin. MBS608714 detects a band of ~39kD molecular weight. Note the GST tag alone is 26kD.)
Galanin is a 29-amino acid peptide widely distributed in the peripheral and central nervous systems. In the brain, the highest concentrations are observed in the hypothalamus and particularly in the nerve terminals of the median eminence. It contracts smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract, regulates growth hormone release, modulates insulin release, and may be involved in the control of adrenal secretion.
Immunogen: Recombinant human Galanin with a GST tag. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing GAL are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as GAL may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Blood, Bone, Brain, Connective Tissue, Embryonic Tissue, Intestine, Lung, Nerve, Ovary, Stomach tissues are correlated with this protein. GAL also interacts with the following gene(s): GALR1, GALR2. Adenocarcinoma, Female Urogenital Diseases, Inflammation, Intestinal Neoplasms, Liver Diseases, Liver Neoplasms, Male Urogenital Diseases, Neoplasms, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Pain are some of the diseases may be linked to Galanin (GAL, GAL1, GALN, GLNN). The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene.
