Mouse anti Human Heparanase-1 antibody, clone HP3/17 is specific to Heparanase-1, also know as HPA1, an endo-beta-D-glucuronidase that degrades heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) in the extracellular matrix through cleavage of the heparan sulfate side chains. Heparanase-1 is a heterodimer that is produced as a 65kDa latent precursor, consisting of an 8kDa subunit, a 50kDa subunit and a linker peptide. Activation of Heparanase-1 occurs through cleavage of the linker peptide, releasing the 8kDa subunit from the active 50kDa subunit.
