IL-6 is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays an important role in host defense by regulating immune and inflammatory responses. Produced by T cells, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells and keratinocytes, IL-6 has diverse biological functions. It stimulates B-cell differentiation and antibody production, synergizes with IL-3 in megakaryocyte development and platelet production, induces expression of hepatic acute-phase proteins, and regulates bone metabolism. IL-6 signals through the IL-6 receptor system that consists of two chains, IL-6R alpha and gp130. Murine IL-6 is inactive on human cells, while both human and murine are equally active on murine cells. Recombinant human IL-6 is a 20.9 kDa protein containing 184 amino acid residues.
Antibody Generation: Produced in BALB/c mice using highly pure (>98%) recombinant human IL-6 as the immunizing antigen. This IgG1K antibody was purified from cell culture by Protein An affinity chromatography. Buffer: PBS. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing IL-6 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as IL-6 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Arthritis, Rheumatoid, Atherosclerosis, Autoimmune Diseases, Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2, Hypersensitivity, Inflammation, Ischemia, Myocardial Infarction, Myocardial Ischemia, Necrosis are some of the diseases may be linked to Mouse Anti-Human IL-6. Blood, Bone, Brain, Connective Tissue, Eye, Kidney, Lung, Muscle, Skin, Vascular tissues are correlated with this protein. IL-6 also interacts with the following gene(s): FOS, IL17A, IL1B, IL6R, IL6ST, JAK2, JUN, SOCS3, STAT1, STAT3.
