The Cytokeratin 18 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Cytokeratin 18 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA).
WB: 1/500 - 1/2000, IHC: 1/200 - 1/1000, ELISA: Propose dilution 1/10000
Not yet tested in other applications. Determining optimal working dilutions by titration test. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT18 krt18 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The KRT18 krt18 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4557888) (NCBI Accession #NP_000215.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Background: Cytokeratin 18, also known as CK18, CYK18, KRT18. Entrez Protein NP_000215. It encodes the type I intermediate filament chain keratin 18. Keratin 18, together with its filament partner keratin 8, are perhaps the most commonly found members of the intermediate filament gene family. They are expressed in single layer epithelial tissues of the body. Mutations in this gene have been linked to cryptogenic cirrhosis. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
Immunogen: Purified recombinant fragment of human Cytokeratin 18 (aa391-483) expressed in E. Coli.
Species: Mouse IgG2b. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing KRT18 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as KRT18 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Blood, Eye, Kidney, Liver, Lung, Lymph, Lymph Node, Muscle, Prostate, Stomach tissues are correlated with this protein. KRT18 also interacts with the following gene(s): CASP6, KRT8, TCHP.
