The LEP lep (Catalog #MBS475196) is an Antibody produced from MouseSource: Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Leptin Mouse mAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Leptin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LEP lep for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The LEP lep product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4557715) (NCBI Accession #NP_000221.1) (Uniprot Accession #P41159). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Entrez Summary: This gene encodes a protein that is secreted by white adipocytes, and which plays a major role in the regulation of body weight. This protein, which acts through the leptin receptor, functions as part of a signaling pathway that can inhibit food intake and/or regulate energy expenditure to maintain constancy of the adipose mass. This protein also has several endocrine functions, and is involved in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses, hematopoiesis, angiogenesis and wound healing. Mutations in this gene and/or its regulatory regions cause severe obesity, and morbid obesity with hypogonadism. This gene has also been linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus development.
Immunogen: Purified recombinant full length of human Leptin protein expressed in E Coli.
Sensitivity: This antibody detects human Leptin proteins.
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the leptin family. Subunit Structure: Interacts with SIGLEC6
Subcellular Location: Secreted. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing LEP are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as LEP may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. LEP also interacts with the following gene(s): CRP, GHRL, INS, JAK2, LEPR, PTPN1, SOCS3, STAT3. Adipose Tissue, Blood, Connective Tissue, Intestine, Mammary Gland, Mouth, Muscle, Placenta, Thymus tissues are correlated with this protein. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene.
