The MCAM mcam (Catalog #MBS476416) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-MCAM Mouse mAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s MCAM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MCAM mcam for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The MCAM mcam product has the following accession number(s) (GI #675118488) (NCBI Accession #AIL48200.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Anti-MCAM Mouse mAb with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis using MCAM mAb against human MCAM recombinant protein. (Expected MW is 37.7 kDa))
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis using MCAM mAb against HEK293 (1) and MCAM (AA)
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis using MCAM mouse mAb against HUVE-12 (1), EVC-304 (2), HELA (3) and MCF-7 (4) cell lysate.)
Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS) (Flow cytometric analysis of MCF-7 cells using MCAM mouse mAb (green) and negative control (red).)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded liver cancer tissues using MCAM mouse mAb with DAB staining.)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded esophageal cancer tissues using MCAM mouse mAb with DAB staining.)
Entrez Summary: The protein encoded by this gene plays a role in cell adhesion, and in cohesion of the endothelial monolayer at intercellular junctions in vascular tissue. Its expression may allow melanoma cells to interact with cellular elements of the vascular system, thereby enhancing hematogeneous tumor spread. Could be an adhesion molecule active in neural crest cells during embryonic development. Acts as surface receptor that triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of FYN and PTK2/FAK1, and a transient increase in the intracellular calcium concentration.
Immunogen: Purified recombinant fragment of human MCAM (AA: 84-189) expressed in E Coli. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing MCAM are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as MCAM may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
