The MUC1 muc1 (Catalog #MBS175095) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Episialin, EMA antibody (monoclonal) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Episialin, EMA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MUC1 muc1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.

The MUC1 muc1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #199843) (NCBI Accession #AAA39756.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Description: Mouse IgG monoclonal antibody for Episialin, EMA, mucin 1, cell surface associated (MUC1) detection. Tested with IHC-P, IHC-F in Human. No cross reactivity with other proteins. Uniprot ID: 15941
Background: MUC1 is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages. It is expressed on most secretory epithelium, including mammary gland and some hematopoietic cells. It is expressed abundantly in lactating mammary glands and overexpressed abundantly in >90% breast carcinomas and metastases. Transgenic MUC1 has been shown to associate with all four cebB receptors and localize with erbB1(EGFR) in lactating glands. The MUC1 gene contains seven exons and produces several different alternatively spliced variants. The major expressed form of MUC1 uses all seven exons and is a type I transmembrane protein with a large extracellular tandem repeat domain. The tandem repeat domain is highly O glycosylated and alterations in glycosylation have been shown in epithelial cancer cells.

Immunogen: Human milk fat globule membranes. Contents: Mouse ascites fluid, 1.2% sodium acetate, 2mg BSA, with 0.01mg NaN3 as preservative.
Reconstitution: 1.2% sodium acetate or neutral PBS. If 1ml of PBS is used, the antibody concentration will be 100ug/ml. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing MUC1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as MUC1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
