The Pcdhga1 pcdhga1 (Catalog #MBS801712) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Protocadherin Gamma (pan) Antibody: ATTO 390 reacts with Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Protocadherin Gamma can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).1:1000 WB. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Pcdhga1 pcdhga1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The Pcdhga1 pcdhga1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #18087753) (NCBI Accession #NP_291062.1) (Uniprot Accession #Q91XZ0). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Western Blot (WB) (Western Blot analysis of Rat Brain Membrane showing detection of ~100 kDa Protocadherin Gamma protein using Mouse Anti-Protocadherin Gamma Monoclonal Antibody, Clone S159-5. Load: 10 ug. Primary Antibody: Mouse Anti-Protocadherin Gamma Monoclonal Antibody at 1:1000 for 1 hour at RT. Secondary Antibody: Goat Anti-Mouse HRP at 1:200 for 1 hour at RT. Predicted/Observed Size: ~100 kDa.)
Background Info: Detects a 100kDa protein. Cross-reacts with all Gamma- protocadherin-A, -B and -C proteins.
Scientific Background: The protocadherin gamma gene cluster is one of three related clusters tandemly linked on chromosome five. These gene clusters have an immunoglobulin-like organization, suggesting that a novel mechanism may be involved in their regulation and expression. The gamma gene cluster includes 22 genes divided into 3 subfamilies. Subfamily A contains 12 genes, subfamily B contains 7 genes and 2 pseudogenes, and the more distantly related subfamily C contains 3 genes. The tandem array of 22 large, variable region exons are followed by a constant region, containing 3 exons shared by all genes in the cluster. Each variable region exon encodes the extracellular region, which includes 6 cadherin ectodomains and a transmembrane region. The constant region exons encode the common cytoplasmic region. These neural cadherin-like cell adhesion proteins most likely play a critical role in the establishment and function of specific cell-cell connections in the brain. Alternative splicing has been described for the gamma cluster genes.
Conjugate: ATTO 390. Storage Buffer: PBS pH 7.4, 50% glycerol, 0.1% sodium azide. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Pcdhga1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Pcdhga1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
