MyBioSource\'s TESTOSTERONE can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TESTOSTERONE n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. To buy or view more detailed product information and pricing, please click on the technical datasheet page below:
Mouse anti Testosterone antibody, clone XM209 reconises testosterone, a steroid hormone from the androgen group. It is derived from cholesterol. Testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes, but small amounts are also produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and is responsible for the maturation of sex organs and the development of male secondary sex characteristics. The hormone is also involved in the growth of muscle mass and increased bone density and maturation. It functions by activating the androgen receptor and converting to estradiol and activation of estrogen receptors. Testosterone has been employed therapeutically to treat many conditions including infertility, lack of libido, osteoporosis, height growth and bone marrow stimulation. Mouse anti Testosterone antibody, clone XM209 cross-reacts minimally with 5-alpha-dehydrotestosterone and androstendiol.

Target Species: Broad. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing TESTOSTERONE are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as TESTOSTERONE may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
