Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Collagen V alpha-1chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the COL5A1 gene. This gene encodes an alpha chain for one of the low abundance fibrillar collagens. Fibrillar collagen molecules are trimers that can be composed of one or more types of alpha chains. Type V collagen is found in tissues containing type I collagen and appears to regulate the assembly of heterotypic fibers composed of both type I and type V collagen. This gene product is closely related to type XI collagen and it is possible that the collagen chains of types V and XI constitute a single collagen type with tissue-specific chain combinations. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, types I and II.
Antigen: Recombinant human collagen V alpha-1 chain N fragment. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing V Alpha-1 Chain N-propeptide-NC2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as V Alpha-1 Chain N-propeptide-NC2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
