The VDAC1 vdac1 (Catalog #MBS804025) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The VDAC1 Antibody: RPE reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s VDAC1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).1:1000 WB. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VDAC1 vdac1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The VDAC1 vdac1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4507879) (NCBI Accession #NP_003365.1) (Uniprot Accession #P21796). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the VDAC1 Antibody: RPE with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western Blot analysis of Rat Brain Membrane showing detection of ~30 kDa VDAC1 protein using Mouse Anti-VDAC1 Monoclonal Antibody, Clone S152B-23. Lane 1: Molecular Weight Ladder. Lane 2: Rat Brain Membrane. Load: 15 ug. Block: 2% BSA and 2% Skim Milk in 1X TBST. Primary Antibody: Mouse Anti-VDAC1 Monoclonal Antibody at 1:200 for 16 hours at 4 degree C. Secondary Antibody: Goat Anti-Mouse IgG: HRP at 1:1000 for 1 hour RT. Color Development: ECL solution for 6 min in RT. Predicted/Observed Size: ~30 kDa.)
Background Info: Detects a 30 kDa protein. Does not cross-react with VDAC2 or VDAC3 (based on KO validation results)
Scientific Background: Voltage-dependent anion-selective channel protein 1 (also known as VDAC, VDAC1 or outer mitochondrial membrane protein porin 1) is the the outer mitochondrial membrane receptor for hexokinase and BCL2L1. VDAC forms a channel through the mitochondrial membrane and is involved in small molecule diffusion, cell volume regulation and apoptosis. VDAC may participate in the formation of the permeability transition pore complex (PTPC), which is responsible for the release of mitochondrial products that triggers apoptosis.
Conjugate: RPE. Storage Buffer: PBS pH 7.4, 50% glycerol, 0.1% sodium azide. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing VDAC1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as VDAC1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Cardiovascular Diseases, Disease Models, Animal, Fibrosis, Heart Diseases, Hypertrophy, Infertility, Male, Kidney Diseases, Lung Neoplasms, Mitochondrial Myopathies, Necrosis are some of the diseases may be linked to VDAC1 Antibody: RPE.
